ABADAN AIRPORT , ANOTHER BIRTH
After Masjid-i-Solyman , airport of Abadan was another child born to Oil Industry to help commissioning of the greatest oil refinery in the world . An airport which proved a unique role in development of this country by displacement od cargo , tools and different domestic and foreign groups and within the shortest time possible it was changed to an international airport.

Naft airports , one after the other were filled in south oil districts by the airplanes which were flying each for a special purpose : development of oil industry . by lapse of time , naft airline services increased and included a body other than the Co. , displacement of the patients , travels of the state and legionary authorities and whatever might be done in this field.

Masjid-i-Soleyman , Ahwaz , Abadan , Gachsaran , Aghajari , Khark Islands , Gonaveh port , … were the regions touched by the Naft airplanes and the airports were being commissioned one by one and all that were resulted by the safe and healthy flights over the oily regions , the flights having been confirmed by many documents. In the beginning of 〖50〗^th decade , it was more than half a century that the safe flights were made over the oily region . At that time , air services department of Iran Oil Services Co. Private Joint Stock , had only 3 airplanes , 3 Fokker Friendship 27 , each holding 36 seats and the Co. had concluded a contract with National Iranian Airlines for making the flights and services. Such airplanes were specialized for flight to the main centers of the oily regions and every morning , they were carrying the personnel to different regions to return them in the afternoon . they were also carrying the immediate and corrupting loads which were more allocated to Khark Island.

Friendship airplanes equipped with turbine engines with hopper could fly at high temperatures and needed less service . these types of airplanes were used throughout the world in different situations . The capability to take off and to land in small airports , rotation and staying free , bending seats , and the use change for carrying cargos.

Before 1975 , Iran Oil Services Co. , Private Joint Stock possessed three airplanes , Dihaviland ( a type of mono-engine airplane know in Iran as tiger mouse ) and Twin Outer and it had ordered the fourth . Twin Outer could seat 20 passengers and during performance of flights , its main work was to support the technical operations faraway . The airplanes mostly used by excavation department of Co. of course , Oil Co. had 12 helicopters too which were strengthening its fleet and were used mostly for inspection of the oil pipe lines and transportation of geological , surveying , seismic groups and carrying the means and instruments at emergent cases.

Since , such helicopters often needed repairs , the pilots of Co. completely qualified were making it . So , their works were completely different and more difficult than the operations of the pilots in commercial air lines.

Regardless of the next plans , the airplanes were under services having come back to Abadan airport in the evening , to be ready for the flights in holidays and emergent cases .
One of the other very important sectors of air service was warehouse management , because in shortage of spare parts , the airplanes might be shut in . so , there was always stored some spare parts , fuel , and the other different tools for the airplanes , helicopters .
